Paedophile reoffender jailed for flashing at young girls despite sexual harm order!

Peter Melville Caught and Locked Up

Peter Melville, 60, from Portsmouth, has been slammed with a 46-month prison sentence. The Swindon Crown Court handed down the punishment last Friday (14/02) after Melville admitted breaching his sexual harm prevention order.

Shocking Indecent Exposure to 12-Year-Old Girls

On 3 September 2023, Melville approached two 12-year-old girls in Covingham, telling them he was sexually attracted to them. He then unzipped his trousers and attempted to expose himself.

Despite being a known predator with over 10 previous sexual offence convictions and formerly known as Raymond Casson, Melville still broke the law.

Police Hunt Led to Arrest by Armed Officers Near M4

CCTV and doorbell footage helped police identify Melville. Firearms officers intercepted and arrested him near the M4 in Swindon at 6.30pm on the day of the attack. He has been held in custody since.

Victims Speak Out About Trauma

“He looked like an innocent, normal man when he walked past – I didn’t think he was going to do something like that,” said one victim, who broke down in tears after the incident.

“I was crying and feeling terrified. It was only when the police arrived that I started to calm down because I knew they were going to help and he wouldn’t come back.”

Another girl recalled, “I remember him driving past twice. He looked at me weird the second time. I felt confused—I didn’t know why he was looking at me.” She ran to bang and kick a house door trying to scare him off.

Detective Praises Victims, Urges Reporting

Detective Constable Jack Newton said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the victims for their incredible bravery in recalling this traumatic incident. Melville is a repeat offender who changed his name and has persistently targeted children. I am pleased he will spend time behind bars.”

“If you have been a victim of a sexual offence, please report it to us. We will work with you and support you to bring vile perpetrators such as Melville before the courts.”
