Emergency services were called to Torquay Road, Newton Abbot, on Friday 5 June at 4.40pm following a serious collision involving a yellow Honda motorcycle and a grey Kia Sportage.

A man in his 50s from Torquay, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained life-changing injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance.

Devon and Cornwall Police closed Torquay Road at the junction with Forde Park for approximately four-and-a-half hours while officers conducted a thorough examination of the scene and recovered the vehicles involved.

Authorities confirmed that the motorcyclist’s injuries were serious and life changing.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward. Information can be reported through the Devon and Cornwall Police Force website or by calling 101, quoting log number 516 of 5 June.

The extended road closure caused delays for residents and commuters in Newton Abbot as emergency teams managed the aftermath of the collision.
