West Midlands Police remain determined to bring justice in the hit-and-run death of Coventry schoolboy Keaton Slater, two years after he was fatally struck by a BMW on Radford Road in June 2024.
Detectives continue to investigate while pursuing extradition efforts for the prime suspect, Dolars Aleksanders, who fled the UK to Latvia.
Ongoing Extradition Battle
Investigators identified Dolars Aleksanders as the driver involved in the fatal incident. Despite releasing his image nationwide, police report that Aleksanders has left the country and is currently in Latvia.
West Midlands Police are actively working with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to secure his return to face charges.
Police Appeal For Justice
“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Keaton,” said West Midlands Police. “Our investigation into the collision and the driver remains very much active. We appreciate the continued support and patience as we seek justice.”
Family’s Ongoing Grief
Keaton’s parents, Louise and Clint Slater, describe the past two years as a “nightmare while awake.” Louise expressed that despite the time elapsed, the loss still feels unreal as the family waits for justice and continues their grieving process.

A Crown Prosecution Service spokesperson said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Keaton Slater. We continue to support West Midlands Police with their ongoing investigation.”
