The Devon night bus service has reached a significant milestone, carrying more than 30,000 passengers safely home since its launch in December 2023. This service operates through a partnership between Devon & Cornwall Police, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and Stagecoach.

The Saturday night bus covers key routes across Devon, offering journeys for a maximum fare of £3, providing an affordable and reliable travel option for those out late on Saturday nights.

The night bus supports Devon’s night-time economy while helping to reduce drink and drug driving offences, anti-social behaviour, and violence against women and girls.

Recently, new routes have been added to expand the service across Devon. These include connections from Exeter to Cranbrook via Monkerton and from Newton Abbot to Brixham through Torquay and Paignton. Additionally, services have resumed in Cornwall following increased passenger demand.

Sergeant David Flynn, the scheme coordinator, praised the service’s success, stating, “Carrying 30,000 passengers is a fantastic milestone and shows just how valuable the service is in helping people get home safely after a night out.”

Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez confirmed that funding will continue into 2026 due to the high demand for the service. She highlighted its important role in reducing antisocial behaviour and offences related to drink and drug use.

Peter Knight, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, expressed his delight at contributing to the 30,000 passenger milestone. He emphasised the importance of safe, late-night public transport options in Devon and Cornwall.
