Four fire crews from Essex, including two from Colchester, along with teams from Clacton, Witham, and Manningtree equipped with an off-road vehicle, are currently fighting a significant field fire in Fordham Heath.

The incident began at 2:56pm and has affected approximately five hectares of crops.

Station Manager Nick Singleton confirmed that firefighters are making solid progress in containing the blaze. “We would like to reassure residents that the fire is surrounded and crews are making good progress extinguishing it,” he said.

The fire has caused major damage to farmland, impacting a large area and raising concerns about crop loss in the local agricultural community.

The operation involves multiple fire stations deploying both land and off-road vehicles to tackle the blaze effectively, highlighting the scale of the fire response effort.
