A man who died in a crash near Horsham has been formally identified.

Around 4.20pm on Saturday 28 March, a white Ford Transit van towing a trailer left the A29 Bognor Road carriageway and collided with a tree.

The driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been identified as Christopher Willmer, 67, of Clemsfold, near Horsham.

Police are still seeking witnesses to the incident, which occurred just west of Horsham, near to the junction of Rowhook Road.

Specifically, officers are keen to speak to the driver of a white Mini that was three cars behind the van when it crashed – they are not in any way involved, and this is purely to obtain a witness statement.

Anyone else who saw what happened, or anyone with any relevant dash cam footage, is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Dial.
