Fire crews scrambled to West Street Brighton after reports of smoke

Just after 8pm fire crews were scrambled to West Street in Brighton to reports of smoke coming from the basement of a building.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service sent 2 appliances.

A spokesperson for ESFS said  “The fire was located to a coal chute in the basement of a building, The fire is now extinguished and the cause of how it started it unknown at this time”
