Witnesses sought to assault in Alexandra Park in Hastings

Police investigating an incident in Hastings are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

About 6pm on Wednesday (10 June), the victim – a 33-year-old woman – was reportedly robbed by a man while walking her dog in Alexandra Park.

The suspect is thought to have assaulted the victim before making off. He took her dog lead, possibly believing it to be a handbag, but no other items.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Investigator Bernadette Peters said: “This was an awful incident which has left the victim understandably shaken.

“We are currently treating this as an isolated incident and are keen to hear from anyone who may have information.
