A diversion has been put in place after a lorry carrying 30 tonnes of recycled rubbish overturned and closed the northbound M23 motorway.

The northbound carriageway of the M23 (Gatwick South terminal roundabout) and North Terminal Approach has been blocked.

Passengers who are due to fly from Gatwick Airport are being advised to use the South Terminal and get the shuttle across to access the North Terminal.

Gatwick Airport says all car park bookings for North Terminal short stay will be accepted in South Terminal short stay until the issue is resolved.

People are being warned to give themselves plenty of time for their journey to the airport.

UPDATE:The overturned lorry which was causing traffic delays around Gatwick earlier, has been removed and traffic is clearing. Roads into North Terminal are now open
