The A27 near Devil’s Dyke in East Sussex has been closed in both directions after a collision involving a car and a pedestrian, Sussex Police confirmed.

The closure, located near the Dyke Road roundabouts in Hove, began this morning and remains in place as emergency services work to determine the full circumstances of the incident.

Sussex Police confirmed the A27 closure and warned that the road is likely to remain shut for some time. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes to reduce congestion.

Emergency services, including Sussex Roads Policing officers, are currently at the scene managing the incident and investigating what happened. No updates have been provided regarding the pedestrian’s condition.

National Highways reported traffic delays of up to 40 minutes with approximately three miles of tailbacks. The recommended diversion route takes drivers up and over exit and entry slips at the A2038 Devil’s Dyke junction.

Authorities have thanked the public for their patience while the closure continues and have promised to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
