Thomas Griffin, 32, from Ballyfermot, tragically died following a brutal knife attack near the War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge on Saturday night. The assault occurred at around 10pm, and Gardaí are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Reports suggest that the attack involved a group believed to be migrants. Thomas suffered multiple slash wounds to his face and body during the assault. In an attempt to escape, he swam across the River Liffey towards Chapelizod Road.

Despite the rapid emergency response from Dublin Fire Brigade and paramedics who provided treatment at the riverside, Thomas was pronounced dead at St James’s Hospital.

The quick efforts of the paramedics and Dublin Fire Brigade were crucial in attempting to save Thomas’s life after the savage attack.
