Brighton Burglar Busted Again After Early Prison Release

William Djama, 36, has been locked up again after smashing into two flats in Brighton — just months after being freed early for previous burglaries.

Burglar Strikes Twice on Licence

Djama, who was jailed earlier in 2023 for a spree of break-ins around the city, was out on licence when he hit two flats. His targets were a Freshfield Road flat on September 28 and another in Queensway on October 5.

He made off with a motley haul including Kindles, a laptop, speakers, a radio, a mobile phone, earphones, and even a security camera. Luckily, some of the loot was tracked down and recovered from local pawn shops.

Quick Justice at Lewes Crown Court

The burglar’s luck ran out when he was recalled to jail. On November 7, Djama pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court and was slammed with a hefty 40-month sentence.

Police Vow to Crack Down on Repeat Offenders

“We understand the terrible impact burglary has on victims, especially from prolific offenders like William Djama,” said Detective Constable James Botting from Sussex Police.

“We will always do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice and remain committed to attending every residential burglary report in person.”
