Two of Brighton’s largest city centre car parks will close this Easter Sunday, causing fears of significant traffic congestion along the seafront and surrounding streets.

Late on Saturday, Churchill Square announced an emergency closure: “Due to emergency maintenance works, both car parks (Red Car Park and Green Car Park) will be closed from Saturday 4th April 10pm and throughout Easter Sunday.”

This closure comes during one of the busiest weekends of the year, as thousands of visitors head to Brighton’s coast for the holiday. With limited alternative parking options nearby, drivers unfamiliar with the area may worsen traffic problems.

Motorists should expect major delays along the seafront, surrounding roads, and key city entry points as they search for scarce parking or face detours.

Vehicles already parked in the car parks will be able to leave at any time, but no new entries will be permitted during the closure.

Authorities are urging drivers to plan ahead, consider using public transport, and allow extra travel time to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

With warm weather forecast and holiday crowds increasing, Brighton is set for a busy Easter weekend, making road troubles highly likely. Drivers are advised to reconsider travel plans, seek alternative options, and prepare for delays while the city’s two largest car parks remain closed.
