Southsea Man Jailed for Three Years Over Class A Drug Bust
Speeding Stop Uncovers Huge Drug Haul
Daniel Prenga, 25, from Heidelberg Road, Southsea, was slammed with a three-year prison sentence for supplying Class A drugs. The drama kicked off on April 23 when police on a routine patrol spotted a vehicle speeding and driving erratically along Eastern Road just after midnight.
Officers pulled over the car and found Prenga carrying Class A drugs, £195 in cash, and several mobile phones. The discovery led to a wider search of an address linked to him.
Massive Seizure Reveals Scale of Operation
The house search turned up a significant stash: more Class A drugs, £2,580 in cash, two mobile phones, seven sim cards, and drug paraphernalia. Prenga was arrested in the early hours of April 24 and soon after pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply.
Police Applaud Tough Sentence
On July 1, Portsmouth Crown Court handed down Prenga’s three-year sentence. Detective Constable Paul Osborne, who led the case, praised the outcome:
“We are pleased with today’s sentence and that Prenga will now face the consequences of his actions. This was the result of some really good proactive policing, and I’d like to thank the officers who worked tirelessly to bring Prenga to justice.”
“There is an undeniable link between drugs and violence, which is why disrupting drug supply networks is such an important part of our mission. Results like today’s help protect Portsmouth residents from drug-related harm.”
Community Call to Action
The court also ordered the seizure of all cash and the destruction of the drugs and phones found during the investigation. Police urge locals to report any drug-related activity to help keep Portsmouth safe.
“I hope this sentence serves as a warning to anyone thinking about drug dealing in Portsmouth – it will not be tolerated,” added DC Osborne. “Even the smallest tip-offs can make a big difference in tackling these crimes.”
