A 31-year-old man from Brighton has been found guilty of rape and multiple sexual offences. The crimes involved two young women who had no connection to each other. This case shines a spotlight on the urgent need for public awareness about such dangers.
Disturbing Details of the Crime
The defendant, Soyoye, lured a woman back to his home in the early hours before raping her. He was arrested in September 2024 and charged with one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault. Though one rape charge brought in May 2025 will not proceed, the other convictions stood firm.

Throughout the investigation, both victims received care from specially trained officers. Detective Aimee Collier urged anyone with information to come forward. “We encourage anyone affected or with information to speak to us,” she said.
