Two dedicated police officers have arrested 139 suspects in just 11 months, significantly disrupting Brighton’s drug scene. PCs Owen West and Daniel Grey have been actively patrolling drug hotspots, contributing to a combined total of 64 years of prison sentences for those caught.
Their efforts have resulted in the seizure of large quantities of drugs, including over 1,200 wraps of cocaine, 500 bags of cannabis, 400 bags of ketamine, and 450 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin. Notable bulk seizures include 2kg of ketamine, 1kg of cocaine, and 6kg of cannabis.
Recent convictions include Armen Zhiejani, 27, who was caught with Class A drugs and £2,000 in cash and sentenced to 18 months at Lewes Crown Court. Aleksander Hyka, 25, was arrested near the seafront with 159 cannabis bags and 40 cocaine bags while riding an e-bike, receiving a 26-month jail term.
PC Owen West said, “Stopping drug dealing is crucial to protecting the community from violence and exploitation.” PC Daniel Grey added, “Our efforts have made Brighton a tougher place for criminals to operate.” Inspector Sadie Crouch commented, “Their work is making a meaningful impact in high-harm areas and is helping make the city safer.”
The police confirmed that these arrests and seizures are part of a wider campaign aimed at disrupting drug networks and reducing crime throughout Brighton. PCs West and Grey continue to lead the charge, maintaining pressure on illicit drug trade across the city’s streets.
