A 66-year-old man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a woman as she slept on a flight from Doha to London.
Man Found Guilty of Sex Attack on Flight to London
Momade Jussab, 66, from Swinfield Close in Feltham, has been convicted of sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman during a September 2024 flight from Doha, Qatar, to London Gatwick Airport.
The victim had fallen asleep after cabin lights dimmed, only to wake and find Jussab assaulting her. She reported the incident as soon as the plane touched down in London.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest and Trial
Sussex Police launched an investigation, leading to Jussab’s arrest. He was charged with one count of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault.
On Friday, March 29, a jury at Lewes Crown Court found him guilty on all counts after a gripping trial.
‘Shocking Incident’ with Lasting Impact
Detective Constable Kate Bailey, who led the probe, praised the victim’s bravery and emphasized the serious, long-term effects of such crimes.
“This was a shocking incident and a crime which has a long-term impact on the victim and other victims like her,” said DC Bailey.
“We were determined to get justice in this case, and we are pleased with the verdict. We encourage all victims of sexual offences to come forward and report their experience to the police.”
